So my quest to claim bragging rights started in 1998. I picked the Tennessee Oilers to win the first week using my Prodigy e-mail. (I would soon upgrade to AOL.) The Browns were a year away from their expansion draft. It was also my first season in fantasy football. (Still have yet to win that.) Jon Gruden was hired as coach of the Raiders. Adam Gase was a junior at Michigan State. Pete Carroll's Patriots were the 6 seed. Jeff Fisher had just completed his first season with a relocated team. The top 5 quarterbacks that season were Vinny Testaverde, Randall Cunningham, Steve Young, John Elway, and Troy Aikman. Scott and Dave were toiling away at inflating the Internet Bubble, Jeff was hatching his plan to stay in college forever, Lumpy was a hopelessly romantic single man, Tom was covering for me so that I didn't get fired, and I was on to a prolific career as a TV weatherman without a meteorology degree.
